European Cloud for Heritage OpEn Science

Acronym: ECHOES

Description

The European Cloud for Heritage OpEn Science (ECHOES) project, funded for five years (2024 - 2029) under the Horizon Europe programme, aims to create the European Collaborative Cloud for Cultural Heritage (ECCCH), a European reference platform for tangible and intangible cultural heritage professionals.

ECHOES is led by the CNRS (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, France) and together with the CNR and the FSP (Fondation des Sciences du Patrimoine, France) has formed a consortium of 51 European partners, including: research organisations, networks representing cultural heritage communities (museums, libraries, archives, restoration, etc.), universities and private sector entities.

ECHOES aspires to create the infrastructure and legal entity of the cloud in collaboration with and for cultural heritage communities. ECHOES promotes a holistic approach to digital transformation, encouraging collaborative knowledge construction. Through a transparent governance approach and the application of open science principles (FAIR), ECHOES will also integrate other European and national projects within the cloud.

Take part in the consultation today and join us in shaping the future of cultural heritage collaboration!

The ECHOES Consultation aims to map diverse cultural heritage communities and understand their needs and expectations for the Cultural Heritage Cloud. With their contribution, we will be able to set up the Cultural Heritage Cloud with and for the communities.

Why participate?

Your insights will help to:

  • Develop a strategy for community building
  • Inform the design and technological framework of the Cloud
  • Identify additional stakeholders eager to contribute
  • Initiate collaborative activities within the community
  • Prepare new capacity-building initiatives for the next phases of the project

How to get involved?

The consultation will begin with an online questionnaire, followed by workshops, focus groups, and targeted interviews to ensure an inclusive and comprehensive approach.

As the first step, the questionnaire seeks to identify various heritage professionals and researchers and explore how they use digital tools in their daily work. It is based on methodologies adopted in the past by established initiatives such as ESPADON, E-RIHS, ARIADNE RI, CLARIN and PERCEIVE.

Who can contribute?

The consultation is open to all cultural heritage stakeholders, including professionals, researchers, computer scientists/developers, umbrella organisations and institutions with a vested interest in the development and application of the Cultural Heritage Cloud. Your participation will be instrumental in shaping the future of digital cultural heritage.

The questionnaire will remain open until the end of April 2025.
