Study, Conservation, and Valorization of Imperial Citadels in Vietnam
Acronym: VICHI
Description
The project focuses on the ancient imperial citadels and Buddhist civil and religious monuments in Vietnam, which are pivotal elements of the nation's historical and cultural identity. These sites, including the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long in Hanoi and the Dam Pagoda in Bac Ninh Province, embody the architectural, cultural, and religious achievements of Vietnam’s diverse civilizations.
The initiative aims to employ a comprehensive and integrated approach to study, conserve, and valorize these monuments through historical research, architectural analysis, and the application of modern conservation techniques such as digital mapping and Heritage Building Information Modeling (HBIM).
The project also intends to enhance understanding of these sites’ historical context, from their inception during the Ly Dynasty through their evolution and eventual decline. By collaborating with local institutions and utilizing advanced technology, the project seeks to develop sustainable management practices that ensure the preservation of these sites for future generations while fostering an appreciation of Vietnam's rich heritage globally.
