Director of the Italian Archaeological Expedition in the Erbil Plain and the Italian Archaeological Project at Kültepe. The archaeology of the Levant, Anatolia and Mesopotamia in the Bronze Age is his primary area of expertise. Other research topics are craft production and exchange in ancient Western Asia. He also carries on projects of public archaeology and communication of cultural heritage.
